Design Process

Bathroom Design Board - Richmond Interior Design

What paint color should I choose?  What size rug do I need?  Should the light fixture be brushed nickel, chrome, brass, or bronze?  Will my grandmother’s chest fit there?  How do I pull it all together?  Designing a home can sometimes feel overwhelming.  In a well-designed home, we can live our lives as we choose and not focus on unfinished projects, unused areas, or disorganized messes.  As a designer, my goal is to create spaces that fulfill each client’s definition of home – a welcoming hug as you walk through the door, a relaxing escape from the busy day, a place to organize and plan, or a cozy nook to spend quality time with the ones we love.

I start every project with an initial design consultation at your home.  During the consultation, we will discuss any and all goals and wishes you have for the rooms you would like to work on, and I will give you my initial thoughts and ideas on the projects.

After the initial consultation, we will create a design plan, prioritize projects, and find the starting point.  Often, taking the first step and making the first decisions are the most difficult parts of the process.  Once the initial decisions are made, the project evolves and the other pieces and details of the design plan come together.  In order to confidently make the best recommendations to my clients, I have worked to nurture industry relationships both locally and across the country.  I stay up to date on current trends, and I also appreciate the lasting abilities of traditional design elements.  At the completion of the project, I will leave you with a refreshed home and rooms that are uniquely yours.

If you are ready to invest a home that tells your story, please contact me to discuss your design project and to set up your in-home consultation.  I look forward to working with you!
