Are you interested in making your home healthier and more sustainable? If you answered ‘yes’ to any of those questions, you are in the right place.
My journey
With a passion for color and patterns, I founded Cathy Green Interiors in 2011. I am dedicated to developing spaces that harmonize vibrant colors, patterns, and textures with functional, innovative, and sustainable design. Through client connection and an intentional approach, I create unique and personalized environments for my clients that reflect and empower their lifestyles and passions.
I believe in the importance of sustainable design practices, but what does that mean? What is sustainable design?
Sustainable design focuses on creating spaces that minimize environmental impacts and promote healthier homes. From off-gassing levels, to knowing where products are made, to energy efficiency capabilities, there are many aspects to consider when selecting products for the home. I am proud to be a member of the Sustainable Furnishings Council. The SFC is an organization that is focused on reducing “our industry’s impact on the environment and human health.” Joining the SFC allows me to be part of a community that shares my passion for sustainable and eco-friendly furnishings and design.
About me
I enjoy traveling and exploring new places, but my heart is in Richmond. I grew up in Richmond and attended the University of Richmond where I majored in Spanish, minored in Secondary Education, and spent most of my time on the field hockey field. After graduation, I taught Spanish and coached the Varsity field hockey team at a high school in Chesterfield County. I loved working with the students and athletes, but after 8 years of encouraging them to explore their dreams, I decided to take my own advice and follow my true passion of design and interiors. I returned to the University of Richmond and earned my Certificate in Interior Decorating in 2011. Building on my coaching and teaching background, I use the same principles of setting goals, making a plan, and communicating effectively to execute my design plans for clients.
I am a wife, a mother, a daughter, and a sister. My favorite color is purple, I pick restaurants based on their desserts, and March Madness is one of my favorite times of the year. I enjoy hunting for unique pieces at antique stores, I sing along to my favorite songs, and I love fresh cut flowers. Life is a wonderful, crazy, unpredictable ride, and I am thankful, every day, to have a supportive circle of family and friends with whom we get to share our joys and challenges.
